The follow up to Taste for Life was recorded shortly afterwards in 2011 using the exact same methods of recording (at home using a Zoom MRS1608 multitrack recording unit, my Stratocaster, my sister’s First Act bass, and a single Shure SM58 to record acoustic guitar and vocals with.
This body of collective work however, explores a much more experimental and alternative side of the rock spectrum, and is titled Silent Flight.
Whereas there are hints of improvement in the overall quality when compared to its predecessor, I still had a long way to go, and much to learn in the ways of recording and mixing — but it was an extremely valuable learning experience that would end up helping me tremendously moving forward.
Grey Ghost Episode - Taste for Life - (DEMO EP) (2011)
I recorded my first solo project in 2011, prior to having any experience with recording, under the name Grey Ghost Episode, with my first collective work being a primarily rock album titled Taste For Life.
The project was recorded and mixed at home using nothing but a passion, and what I had available to me at the time; which was a Zoom MRS1608 multitrack recording unit, my Stratocaster, my sister’s First Act bass, and a single Shure SM58 to record acoustic guitar and vocals with.
All of my electric guitar and bass parts were recorded by linking the instrument cable directly into the recording unit as I didn’t have any way at that time to record using a once traditional mic and amp setup, and all of the drum parts were programmed using the built-in drum machine on the unit.
The result was, as you may have concluded, pretty rough around the edges — but we all have to start somewhere.
